This weekend, our talented Year 9 students took to the courtroom at Newcastle Crown Court to compete in this year’s Magistrates’ Mock Trial Competition – and they did so with confidence, skill, and professionalism.
With high levels of interest in the competition, we were thrilled to enter two teams, both of whom performed superbly. Competing against schools from across the region, our students took on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates, and court staff, presenting their cases with conviction and impressive legal reasoning. Their ability to think on their feet, analyse evidence and communicate persuasively was a testament to their hard work and preparation.
“The Magistrates’ Mock Trial Competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop key skills, but even more importantly, it reflects the character strengths we prize in our school. The involvement and dedication shown by our Year 9 students—both in their preparation and in the courtroom—has been outstanding. They fully committed to the challenge, worked brilliantly as a team, and demonstrated resilience and confidence under pressure. I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.” – Mr. Jonny Greenshields, Deputy Headteacher
