Volunteering Changes Lives – British Heart Foundation

February 12th, 2025

In tutorial this week, our Year 13 students were considering life beyond Ponteland High and how they can continue to develop their skills whilst at university or in employment. A meaningful way to do this is by engaging with voluntary work. Students listened to a talk from Hannah Foster, a Retail Volunteering Manager in the North of England for British Heart Foundation. Hannah explained the wide range of voluntary roles available within the BHF and how students can use the online postcode search tool to locate opportunities near them whether that be locally or in their new cities next year. According to a survey by the BHF, 7 in 10 volunteers said that their charitable actions were beneficial to their mental health and that volunteering contributed to their overall happiness.

We hope that our students will get involved!
