Staff and students from Ponteland High School have been thanked for their voluntary efforts as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
Over the past 12 months, students engaged in the scheme have notches up an impressive 1,092 volunteer hours. This includes the support they’ve received from staff and covers the time students have invested in helping others as part of the volunteering section of the award scheme.
The award centre manager for Ponteland High School, Any Allman told us about the import Of this section, “volunteering has always been a central part of the award scheme and it gives participants an opportunity to help others in their community.
The social value of these hours equates to over £5000 but the real value is in the development of the young people and those they help.”
