Meat Free Mondays at PHS

The catering team at Ponteland High, led by Carol George, have seen an increase in popularity for Meat Free Mondays, this is due to some new exciting dishes set around themes.
  
Current theme’s are Mexican, Asian & Mediterranean with some exciting dishes including halloumi flatbreads, chargrilled vegetable lasagna, bean & lentil burrito & roasted cauliflower & sweet potato dhal (plus many more).
  
The change was driven by students who asked for more exciting dishes using fresh vegetables instead of meat substitutes like Quorn.  Students also requested some meat options on a Monday for those among them who don’t enjoy vegetarian food. With this in mind, we offer a alternatives in the catering pod at break and lunchtimes.
  
We have posters up in both dining streets advertising the environmental benefits of going vegetarian or even vegan for one day a week.
