Welcome to the hustling, bustling heart of the Wizarding community – Diagon Alley. Forty of our wizards entered into this magical world for a few hours on the evening of Thursday 16 February 2023.
The evening began with Secret Sorting Hat selecting students into their houses; cheers of joy and groans as the hat revealed their fate.
A visit from DumbleDora who was passing en-route to buy a new wand and then it was off to visit the delights in the shops. Four shops were visited during the evening; Gringotts Bank, Flourish and Blotts, The Three Broomsticks and Ollivanders. As you can imagine the wand making meant lots of glue, glitter and colourful accessories. Creativity was needed at Flourish and Blotts to conjure up those spells. Whilst at Gringotts Bank, knowledge was the key; answer as many questions correctly to collect the keys to free the owl from the vault. Meanwhile in the Three Broomsticks after relaxing with a butterbeer, wizards competed against each other in a game of alternative darts.
Mrs Handy said ‘The students were very well behaved and it was clear that so much thought and effort had gone into offering a range of activities for the students which kept them enthralled for over 3 hours after school’.
Wizarding snacks and refreshments were provided to refuel the weary wizards. The evening wouldn’t be complete without chocolate coins from Gringotts Bank and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Spot prizes were awarded to students who showed integrity, kindness, bravery and other attributes.
Competition was fierce throughout the evening with each house being marked on teamwork, creativity, enthusiasm, knowledge etc. The winning house was crowned at the end of the night; and for once it wasn’t Gryffindor. Ravenclaw were our 2023 champions. Well done to all our wizards!
