This weekend, two of our year 7 students, Anya and Daisie excelled as part of a 14.5 mile sponsored walk, raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee charitable response to the crisis in Ukraine.
The walk, organised by Year 9 Pastoral Manager, Mrs Mordey travelled through Northumberland on Saturday, encountering a vast range of weather conditions as they went. Despite everything they faced, the girls remained in a cheerful mood and took on their challenge with enthusiasm.
Anya and Daisie commented, ‘We feel very proud and a sense of accomplishment to have taken on and met this challenge. It feels good to know that you’re doing your part in helping others.”
Throughout the walk and in the days after, passers by and friends have been donating more and more to the fund, which has now reached over £2,500.
Year 7 Pastoral Leader, Mr Greenshields, commented, “It was so great to hear from Mrs Mordey about Anya and Daisie’s incredible efforts as part of this fundraising event. They truly have been a credit to the school, as has Mrs Mordey in her efforts to organise this event! We all can do our bit to help others who need it more.”
