Students compete in the UK XC Championships known as Intercounties

March 18th, 2024

Last weekend 3 PHS students, Elliot K (year 12), Dominic K (year 8) and Ayla B (year 7), competed at the UK Cross Country Championships, known also as ‘Intercounties’ representing the North East Counties.

To take part in this event, athletes have to be deemed to be the best in their county, by running various qualifying races, and are selected into a team of 8 (per age group) where they compete against the best 8 runners in other counties across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

All 3 did exceptionally well: –

Elliot (under 17 boys) placed 32th out of 290 runners.
Dominic (under 13 boys) placed 69th out of 297 runners.
Ayla (under 13 girls) finished 70th out of 298 runners.

A great achievement for them all and an honour to represent the North East at such an event.
